Kirkby opera singer Lucy Kay has thanked the public for their support after she narrowly missed out on landing the Britain’s Got Talent crown.

The 25-year-old faced a nervous wait over whether she would actually compete in the final of the hit ITV talent show after losing her voice on the morning of the show.

But the former member of Mansfield’s famous Cantamus choir regained her voice after resting all day and went on to claim second spot after singing what judge Simon Cowell described as a ‘gutsy’ choice of song.
