Perfect ten years for band

The Beautiful Sound, an eight-piece tribute to The Beautiful South, head to The Diamond in Sutton-in-Ashfield for a hometown gig on Friday, July 15, in their tenth anniversary year.

The acclaimed band features lead vocals from founding member Steve Place, with Catherine Morris delivering a range taking in the Briana Corrigan high notes of Bell Bottomed Tear to the sultry Jacqui Abbott lower notes on Everybody’s Talkin’ with ease.

Russ Walker, who is also an original member, adds the second main male vocal and lead guitar.

With bass, drums, keyboards and brass section completing the line-up, the band has built a fine reputation over the years and is still going strong after a decade of performing.

Steve Place is looking forward to playing to his homecrowd in the band’s tenth anniversary year.

Having recently sharedthe main stage at The Acoustic Festival of Britain with the likes of Midge Ure, the band is renowned for its faithful re-creation of themany well-loved songs from this iconic band.

Formed in 1988 after the split-up of The Housemartins, The Beautiful South’s many hits over the years include A Little Time, debut single Song For Whoever, Rotterdam, Don’t Marry Her, Perfect 10, Old Red Eyes Is Back, You Keep It All In, I’ll Sail This Ship Alone.

In a show by The Beautiful Sound, you will also hear a few Housemartins favourites like Happy Hour and Build.

The Diamond is based on Stoney Street in Sutton-in-Ashfield.
