THE Environment Agency is appealing for help to catch a fly-tipper who dumped up to 70 tyres at an Annesley beauty spot.
Covert camera footage taken by the agency shows a white pick-up truck driver disposing of the tyres on land off Newstead Road at around 7pm on 12th September.

Tyre dumping has become an increasing blight on beauty spots across the county, with somewhere between 25 and 30 incidents reported over the past three months.

Peter Rutherford, environmental crime team leader for the Environment Agency, said they were working hard to reduce the problem.

Said Mr Rutherford: "Recently we have seen a big increase in tyre fly-tipping around Ashfield. We are doing some work targeting tyre outlets.

"We have been visiting some of the sites and checking they have got the relevant paperwork and making sure we are satisfied they are disposing of tyres properly."

John Chisholm, of Annesley Parish Council, said fly-tipping had been a problem at this site and told Chad: "This area has attracted problems with fly-tipping in the past, but until this last incident there has not been a problem.

"We hope that this is not a sign that fly-tipping is coming back to the area."

Anyone with any information on the incident should call the Environment Agency on 0800 807060.
