WOULD you recognise the politicians who have been elected to represent your views?
This week we hit the streets of Mansfield to find out whether people could recognise pictures of the three leading politicians in the area - Mansfield MP Alan Meale, elected mayor Tony Egginton and Nottinghamshire County Council leader David Kirkham.

We conducted the survey after former district councillor Andre Camilleri said on the BBC's Politics Show on Sunday that no-one knew who Nottinghamshire County Council leader David Kirkham was.

He made his comments during a debate on whether or not Nottinghamshire County Council should have a directly-elected mayor as its leader.

Be honest - do you know who represents you? Leave your comments below...

Eggo Yes, Mealey Yes, Kirkham No. And thats a bit worrying, because out of all of them he probably controls the biggest budget and takes most of my tax.

I watched that programme and Andre Camilleri ran rings round David Kirkham. If he (Kirkham) is in charge of us, god help us! No wonder he doesn't want an elected mayor to run the county. The eggman has his knockers, but at least everyone in Mansfield knows who he is and that he is trying his best for the town, even if he doesn't always get it right.

I saw that programme too and Kirkham was completely out of his depth - which is scary considering the post he holds. With a bit of luck there will be a referendum and he'll not be elected mayor!!

Well, there's one who's been to 5 out of the last 40 available meetings, then t'other one's either at Stags or on holiday, then both County Councillors don't live in West Mansfield and then Portfolio Holder for Bins/Environment walks his dog up Penniment Lane and then Albert Haynes practically does all the County Surgeries and zzzzzzzzzzz

I watch the programme regularly, i thought camilleri seemed like a man with a grudge to bear. He lost it a couple of times, fumbling his words. In contrast I thought the councillor handled himself well, while under attack not only from camilleri but also the presenter. I dont want the council to spend another £35,000 of our money on a consultation for a mayor.
