Ladyboys of Bankok - a fabulous entertainment feast

THE Ladyboys of Bangkok last night was perhaps one of the cheesiest live shows I have ever seen – but also one of the funniest.
The exotic troupe of 16 beautiful showgirls – who also happen to be men – descended on Nottingham's Royal Centre with their Devils and Angels Show for a fabulous feast of comedy, cabaret and dancing.
During the two-hour show, they treated the audience to a fun-filled sketch show performing dance routines to pop hits by such artists as Rihanna, Britney Spears and the Spice Girls, as well as showstoppers from Broadway musicals like The Sound of Music and Grease.
And the excited audience shrieked with delight at the camp, tongue-in-cheek interpretation of these songs, not to mention the rapid and extravagant costume changes – of which there were 200 in total and this really captured the heady atmosphere of Thai nightlife.
The Ladyboys of Bangkok certainly would not appeal to all tastes – the fact that they mime to the songs made it seem a little tacky at times and some of the humour was a bit vulgar and cheap.
And at two hours long the music, which was incredibly cheesy, began to get on my nerves by the end.
But ultimately, the show is a fantastic party, perhaps best enjoyed within a large group of friends, which does not pretend to be anything other than what it is.
If you are prepared for an over-the-top evening of tongue-in-cheek performances, then I can highly recommend this show.
