FORMER Cantamus singer Marianne Wright is returning to her home town in September to give a varied concert with friends.
Marianne put on a leaving concert last year at Sherwood Hall School, and enjoyed the event so much that she is aiming to repeat the musical evening — this time at Queen Elizabeth's School at Chesterfield Road South, Mansfield, on Saturday 13th September.

Soprano Marianne (21), who left Cantamus Girls' choir last summer, now studies at Trinity College of Music in London under Wendy Eathorne and when back in the area with Cantamus director Pamela Cook.

Marianne — the 2008 John Ogdon award winner, Mansfield's very own competition for young musicians — will be joined at the September concert by Cantamus members Lydia Seager (mezzo), Sarah Carlin (soprano) and Sally Dodds (mezzo) with accompaniment by former Cantamus accompanist Michael Neaum.

The ensemble will also be joined by fellow award-winning Trinity College of Music student Ruth Wawszczyk on flute accompanied by Ian Richardson, a Trinity College of Music Masters accompanist.
The programme ranges from early pavanes and romantic numbers to songs from the shows and much-loved jazz standards, of course with Michael Neaum's arrangements dotted throughout.

The concert will be held at Queen Elizabeth's School, Mansfield, at 7.30pm. Tickets are £6 each and are available by calling 01623-461051.
