THE Stags have been drawn against manager Billy McEwan's old club York City in the FA Cup - but does the famous competition matter to the Stags this season?
This week our Stags Talk panel discuss the merits of progress in the competition as the club bids for a quick return to the Football League.

The panel also reflects on another disappointing week at Field Mill which has seen the club suffer a third successive defeat.

However, the Stags have been able to strengthen the squad with one new signing ahead of this weekend's match - but do they need even more new faces?

For all this and much, much more, just click the green 'play' icon to listen now.

Host Stephen Thirkill is in the hot-seat once again, and this week is joined by Chad deputy editor and Stags fan Tim Morriss and Chad sports editor John Lomas.

Interesting debate on the merits of FA Cup progress this season. A distraction? Yes! For once the panellists are right - let's get out of the cups and get promotion this season. Whoever the host is, I'm afraid he is the Micky Mouse!

cup runs are absolutely vital and worth it and whats the point of having this huddersfield fan on the stags talk, he has no interest of mansfield town. Cup run money is vital to survival and also vital to getting those players to get out of this league.

Adam, as I'm sure you know managers play games, they say a player is injurted out and doubtful and then they go and play - as for FA Cup, i repeat it is a distraction. promotion must be the only aim this season. any extra money from fa cup can not make up for not going back up surely

dot, extra money means we can afford to pay the better players available wages and can even get a few in come january. we get something like £12,500 if we beat york. just think how much we could bad if we beat them and then win in 1st and 2nd rounds we would be about the £40,000 mark

come on stags - Good Cup Run = Money which = promotion out of this horrible league which has the standards of sunday league football

Tim Morriss, you say something like, "all a good cup run will do is secure the future of the club", so am I missing something or what?...

Surely safeguarding the future of the club and gaining valuable revenues to buy new players, pay bigger wages and make the foundations of the club much more solid....oh as well as hopefully getting more fans through the doors is like kinda important, wouldn't you say?

I cant agree with what you say at all.
