THE unlikely central defensive partnership of full backs John Mullins and Gareth Jelleyman stood firm as Stags won at Chester on Saturday afternoon, leaving suspended skipper Jake Buxton worrying for his place next week.
"He is our skipper and I am sure he will be back next week," smiled Mullins, who gave an outstanding man of the match display today in the 1-0 victory - the Stags first away League win for 10 months.

"We were under a lot of pressure but we didn't give them any clear cut chances.

"We did the right things at the right times and Carl made a great save for us.

"We defended well as a team and didn't give them a sniff.

"Me and Jells did well together. Sometimes in football you get thrown into situations which are not natural or comfortable.

"I thought Chris Wood was brilliant today at right back.

"Other results went for us and things are looking up again. We had a disappointing first half of the season but now let's hope we can have a much better second half."
