MANSFIELD Town FC have pledged to go ahead with their cut price season ticket deal - even if they do not reach their 3,000 adults target.
The announcement came after a fine response to last week's Chad articles, urging people to act.

Fans were told the adult season ticket price of £320 would come down to £195 this season if 3,000 came forward to make it viable.

And, although they are only a third of the way, the club have now said they will honour any pledges made before the end of the month before tickets go up to £300 after then- still cheaper than last season.

If the whole scheme still falls short of budget then the ambitious club may have to rein in some of their projected costs, though the playing budget will be the last thing slashed.

"The momentum is absolutely moving forward and we are very grateful for the support from the Chad who have thrown their weight behind this," said chairman Andy Perry.

"Last week's articles made a significant difference and the majority of comments we have had since have been extremely positive.

"We had a significant number of people here on Saturday, handing in forms and asking questions. Many of them had not previously had a season ticket but were responding to the Chad's appeal to get behind the club.

"A number of businesses have also reacted very positively.

"We remain very optimistic. But the directors have decided in the event of us falling short of the 3,000 target that the fans who have shown their loyalty and supporty to this club will still have the opportunity of buying their season tickets at the offer prices of £195 and £99.

"In effect, the remaining period between now and the end of month will be considered the 'early bird' offer period that has applied in previous years.

"For some reason momentum was very slow to begin with but it is starting to pick up now and we hope we can still achieve the figure we are looking for, though we only have two weeks to go. The feeling we are getting from supporters right now is very warm."

If Stags cannot hit the figure they need, Mr Perry added:"Consideration is being given to making adjustments to the budget to ensure the maximum amount of money is available to the manager.

"With so many ex-Football League clubs it really is the fifth division. The standard will improve massively with the arrival of Luton Town and Chester City.

"There are still over 500 season ticket holders from last season out there who have not yet filled in a form. Maybe they are waiting to hear about an Early Bird offer. Well this is it now.

"If we do fall short of the target the club will contact everyone and give them the opportunity of continuing at £195 for demonstrating their support."

The club has stressed they are counting two concessions as the equivalent of an adult ticket so all those buying a concession ticket are still contributing to the overall target and are just as vital.

If the 3,000 target is not reached then from June, adults will be up to £300 - adults are people over the age of 16 and up to the age of 65.

Concessions will be £185 - this will cover seniors (OAPs) over the age of 65, students with a NUS card or letter from school confirming full time education, and disabled persons.

Juniors will be £80 - this will be for 13 to 16 year olds. U13s will be free, provided they are accompanied by an adult.

Gate admission will be £16 for adults and £10 for concessions.

Well done to the board - what more do they have to do to convince people that the club is moving forward in a positive way - gone are the bad old days of Haslam. Come on the people of Mansfield - buy a ticket!!
At last - a club we can all be proud of and believe in 100%

Pretty obvious that was going to happen all along. There was no way they would reach 3,000 and they knew it. They said that to raise the bar and try to get as many fans on board as possible, knowing all along that even if they only got 1,000 they would still do the deal. When perry said if they don't reach the magic 3,000 they will shred the application forms sent in you just knew they never meant that. Anyway its a good price just don't like the way they manipulate

I guess whatever figure they sell when this early bird offer is cut off is all they will sell as nobody will now pay 300 when they could have had them at £195. Why don't they just leave them at the early bird price now, makes no sense whatsoever to bump it up tp 300 and sell no more.

The owners have done brilliant, and i cant believe they still haven't reached the same sales as last season with cheap offers! This year we have more promise than last season, their is a good manager in charge, we almost have a full squad and we had a great unbeaten home run at the end of last season. The year before was terrible in comparison, no players, relegation and no manager plus KH was still in. I dont see what else people could want!!!

Manipulated? If that's being manipulated then I'll take it every season. It is brilliant news for those of us who have sent in the forms. But it would still be nice if we got to at least 2000 and show that we do have a support worthy of a league team here. I'll say it again - £195 is equivalent to half the games at full price so even if you know you won't make a lot of the games its still worth doing. I will probably miss some matches as I'm going to have chemotherapy over the late summer months but I'll still be in pocket. All these years we have said the support will respond to a decent management - this is it. Get those forms in!!

benno,for god`s sake!!!
Manipulated?
I applaud what they`ve done!!!
They`re trying to do their BEST for OUR Club!
What would you have done in their position?
Would you sooner have Haslam back, ripping us off for his own benefit?
I`m really surprised with your comments, because i thought you were a Die-Hard fan.
The 3 Amigos have done more for us & OUR Club,in less than 12 months, than Haslam did in YEARS,yet you still criticise.......Amazing!!
I just hope that now those who thought..."I`m not going to bother applying, because they wont reach 3,000",will at last realise what a tremendous offer is on the table & get their forms in.

Oh,and Steve G.I sincerely hope your treatment goes well

Superb jesture by the Board and they should be applauded.

I think the Chad article getting people to the Mill on Saturday is not true, the Mansfield Youth League Finals may have been a bigger factor to be honest and the fact the club has now opened its door to such events is absolutely superb.

The only negative is what will be cuts, hopefully the Youth Team and Centre Of Excellance is classed as part of the playing staff!!!
