MANSFIELD Town FC have pledged to go ahead with their cut price season ticket deal - even if they do not reach their 3,000 adults target.
The announcement came after a fine response to last week's Chad articles, urging people to act.
Fans were told the adult season ticket price of £320 would come down to £195 this season if 3,000 came forward to make it viable.
And, although they are only a third of the way, the club have now said they will honour any pledges made before the end of the month before tickets go up to £300 after then- still cheaper than last season.
If the whole scheme still falls short of budget then the ambitious club may have to rein in some of their projected costs, though the playing budget will be the last thing slashed.
"The momentum is absolutely moving forward and we are very grateful for the support from the Chad who have thrown their weight behind this," said chairman Andy Perry.
"Last week's articles made a significant difference and the majority of comments we have had since have been extremely positive.
"We had a significant number of people here on Saturday, handing in forms and asking questions. Many of them had not previously had a season ticket but were responding to the Chad's appeal to get behind the club.
"A number of businesses have also reacted very positively.
"We remain very optimistic. But the directors have decided in the event of us falling short of the 3,000 target that the fans who have shown their loyalty and supporty to this club will still have the opportunity of buying their season tickets at the offer prices of £195 and £99.
"In effect, the remaining period between now and the end of month will be considered the 'early bird' offer period that has applied in previous years.
"For some reason momentum was very slow to begin with but it is starting to pick up now and we hope we can still achieve the figure we are looking for, though we only have two weeks to go. The feeling we are getting from supporters right now is very warm."
If Stags cannot hit the figure they need, Mr Perry added:"Consideration is being given to making adjustments to the budget to ensure the maximum amount of money is available to the manager.
"With so many ex-Football League clubs it really is the fifth division. The standard will improve massively with the arrival of Luton Town and Chester City.
"There are still over 500 season ticket holders from last season out there who have not yet filled in a form. Maybe they are waiting to hear about an Early Bird offer. Well this is it now.
"If we do fall short of the target the club will contact everyone and give them the opportunity of continuing at £195 for demonstrating their support."
The club has stressed they are counting two concessions as the equivalent of an adult ticket so all those buying a concession ticket are still contributing to the overall target and are just as vital.
If the 3,000 target is not reached then from June, adults will be up to £300 - adults are people over the age of 16 and up to the age of 65.
Concessions will be £185 - this will cover seniors (OAPs) over the age of 65, students with a NUS card or letter from school confirming full time education, and disabled persons.
Juniors will be £80 - this will be for 13 to 16 year olds. U13s will be free, provided they are accompanied by an adult.
Gate admission will be £16 for adults and £10 for concessions.
