TICKETS are still available for a sportsman's dinner featuring football legend Duncan McKenzie in aid of Mansfield Town supporters group Stags Fans United (SFU).
And Chad has agreed to sponsor the fundraising event, part of the SFU's drive to raise upto £250,000 to invest in the football club in return for a seat on the board and the chance to buy more shares.
The dinner takes place at the John Fretwell sporting complex on 24th September, 7pm, when former Stags player and McKenzie will be the guest speaker.
Tickets, priced £35, for the event which also includes a three-course dinner, a comedian and an auction of sporting memorabilia are still available, contact Richard Sharp on 07814737946 or email sfudinner@hotmail.com.
A spokesman for the SFU said: "The SFU is delighted to have Chad as a main sponsor for our first major fundraising event. The Chad is one of the first places people in the Mansfield, Ashfield, Bassetlaw and Newark areas turn to for news and information about Mansfield Town FC and is a respected business, to have it supporting the SFU in its aim to raise funds to help take the Stags forward is great news."
The evening will feature a sports memorabilia auction that will include amongst many others, signed International football shirts, signed Stags' playes shirts, a signed Nottinghamshire County Cricket bat, tickets for an England Rugby Union International game at Twickenham and a wide range of stags memorabilia and photos. It is also hoped that signed England World Cup winners memorablia will be in the auction.
It is also hoped that a number of Stags legends will be in the audience as guests with Chris Greenacre, Liam Lawrence, Jimmy McCaffrey and Kevin Bird amongst those that have been invited.
SUPPORTERS wanting to join the recently formed Stags Fans United (SFU) group - which aims to raise upto £250,000 to invest in Mansfield Town FC in return for a seat on the board and the chance to buy more shares - can now pay by direct debit if they wish to become a member.
Any fans wishing to take advantage of this, £10 a month for 10 months, should contact Keith Underhill, TM treasurer, on 01664 850988 for a DD form.
So far SFU has raised around £42,000 and hopes to hold its AGM in September, when the new board of the Trust will be elected, and a fans forum.
