STRIKER Emile Sinclair, on loan at Field Mill for three months, has been recalled by Nottingham Forest - and could be 'replaced' by Louis Briscoe according to Ilkeston Town.
Sinclair scored five goals in 18 appearances for Mansfield Town, after joining in October.

It is believed that new manager David Holdsworth had already been hoping to strengthen his squad with a new striker this week and at the weekend was linked with the experienced Daryl Clare and Ilkeston's Louis Briscoe.

Clare has been told he can leave Rushden - like Holdsworth's first two signings Woodhouse and Marriott - while Holdsworth took Briscoe to his former club Ilkeston last month.

  • Holdsworth to unveil new signings this week

Then on Tuesday afternoon a spokesman for Ilkeston said that Briscoe 'has been released and we agreed for him to talk to Mansfield yesterday . . . because he has decided to move on for full-time football'.

The spokesman said that Briscoe had not been under a contract at Ilkeston, where he played three matches.

Briscoe (20), whom Holdsworth took to Ilkeston just a month ago, began as a trainee at Port Vale and made four substitute appearances in League One as a teenager and one in the FA Cup.

After being released, he enjoyed a fine spell with Leek Town and scored 29 goals for them last season, just failing to stave off relegation.

Then followed spells at Stafford Rangers and Gresley Rovers earlier this season, with the forward leaving both clubs because of financial problems, before his switch to Ilkeston in December.

Holdsworth said on Sinclair's departure: "Nottingham Forest have requested Emile returns as their new manager Billy Davies wants to assess his whole squad."

The news follows a busy 24 hours at Field Mill - the signing of keeper Alan Marriott earlier in the day and Curtis Woodhouse on Monday, and the departure of commercial director Bob Gorrill and chief executive John Hemmingham.

It is expected that there may be more signings at the Stags this week, as manager Holdsworth said on Monday that he hoped to bring in two keepers this week.

  • Ilkeston defender won't be joining Stags

However, on Monday he did state that he would not be returning to his old club Ilkeston for Irish U21 international central defender Kieran Murphy.

That pleased fans of the Robins, who had been fearing an exodus of players to Field Mill, including keeper Chris Adamson - which now seems unlikely after the signing of Alan Marriott.

But Ilkeston were dealt a player blow when highly rated 18-year-old defender Scott Garner was recalled by Leicester City ahead of the end of a third month on loan on Tuesday.

Ilkeston fans had feared that Holdsworth might take the defender to Field Mill.

Ok Emile has gone to now. Thanks for nothing Forest like hes gonna make their first team. However it now needs DH to show what he is capable of in getting a replacement, indeed a better player than Sinclair. We will no doubt miss the lads pace, what will DH do now? Interesting times at the Mill atm.

Looked at the long range weather 4cast n I reckon the pitch will still be frozen on Sat. At least it will give DH more time to wheel n deal before we play Crawley(hopefully with pnts deducted)Town.

would be happy with clare
i didnt like emile to be honest with you
yes, he was quick BUT against a strong centre half he was stuffed ecause all they had to do was to hold him off which they seemed to do quite often.
and when he got the ball behind them he SOMETIMES tried to do the fancy stuff when all he had to do was to put it on target from 10 yards!

Gambles second choice at forest now so sinclair will no doubt get a chance:
Nottingham Forest have confirmed the return of Paddy Gamble to The City Ground after his five-month loan spell with Mansfield came to an end.

The 20 year old goalkeeper, who made 26 appearances for The Stags, will now provide cover for Forest's No.1 Paul Smith.

twinny2 I agree with stagdale regards crawley --it STINKS. If confirmed that only 4POINTS deducted for Crawley after a player playing UNREGISTERED for 5 Months. Perry Co (The "3 Muskateers) should respond in the strongest terms, if they have "their" club's interests at heart, to have our 4 Points deducted - resurrected' If not, then an enquiry should be asked for, to find out why Crawley wantewd his to be be kept low key and out the sight and ears of the mwedia. Interested in other views???

Mmmmm I just wonder if the O'Connor fiasco ad been found out after say 7 games would we have lost all those points, yes knowing us. The boot is definitely on the other foot as far as Crawly are concerned. Has the FA reached its decision yet?
