NEW Stags owner James Derry will apologise to the FA for his actions at the end of the MK Dons' defeat, after being hit with a disciplinary charge this week.
Mr Derry, accused of improper conduct after approaching the referee on the pitch at the final whistle, told Chad today: "I will apologise, but all I was trying to do was get the players off the pitch and avoid them getting into trouble with the referee.

"I think my actions were misunderstood. I was not threatening or abusive, I was reasonably calm and just wanted to talk to the referee.

"In hindsight it would have been better to let the stewards get the players away from the referee and in future I will keep away from the pitch.

"I suppose I got a little carried away in the passion of the moment, but my intentions were OK."

Mr Derry, who won praise from many fans for his actions at the end of the 2-1 defeat last Tuesday, has until the 23rd October to respond officially to the charge.
