STAGS chief executive Stephen Booth hailed Saturday's FA Cup tie as 'a great day for the club, a great day for Mansfield as a town' . . . and then said he hoped the momentum from the cup run could be translated into the relegation battle.
He told Chad: "All the staff did a superb job in such a short space of time to make sure it was a great day. It was a testament to their professionalism.

"We had so many issues to deal with so quickly, from raising the ground capacity, to the problem over placing the TV cameras, presenting the Bishop Street stand in a better light and handling the tickets.

"But it all went off well and Mansfield came across positively in so many ways."

The 6,000 plus attendance was the largest at Field Mill for a couple of years and Mr Booth added: "The people of Mansfield got behind the team and the support was great.

"I just hope that those who came for the first time - or those who came back who havn't been for a while - will have enjoyed the quality football they saw and thought 'hey, it is not bad'!

"And I hope that they will come back. Even if it is only a few hundred more next Saturday, that would be a start."

Nottinghamshire County Council's Safety Advisory Group, which had raised capacity at the ground ahead of the match, said afterwards that it was also pleased with the day and that 'everything seemed to have gone to plan helped by the extensive pre-match planning'.
