MANSFIELD Town chairman Andy Perry has explained why the Stags have parted company with chief executive John Hemmingham - and also commercial director Bob Gorrill.
On Friday the club had announced that Hemmingham (45), appointed by the club's new owners in the summer, would be leaving by 'mutual consent' and not be replaced . . . and then on Tuesday afternoon Gorrill also went as part of a restructuring. It is not known if he will be replaced.
On Tuesday chairman Perry told Chad: "John came on board at the club five months ago at a time that he was needed.
"But we have restructured internally and are now moving forward in a different way. So we sat down and spoke with him and it was decided it was best for both parties if we went our separate ways.
"There were no underlying issues or problems with John.
"He has done us a good job. But, unfortunately we are learning ourselves all the time as we have said from day one.
"Whatever we do now doesn't mean it is right for the future. We don't mind change. If we have to let people go for the benefit of the football club then we will do."
Hemmingham joined the Stags at the start of the season after the takeover by Perry, Steve Middleton and Andy Saunders.
A self-confessed football nut, Hemmingham has a wealth of experience and knowledge after working with Sheffield Wednesday and Leeds United from both the supporters' and club sides of things.
A founder member of the world-famous England supporters' terrace band, he had originally joined the Stags as operations director.
The former chief executive declined to comment this week when approached by Chad.
On Tuesday afternoon, announcing the departure of commercial director Gorrill, the Stags chairman added: "Due to a restructure over the last week it is unfortunate that Bob has been a casualty as a result of this."It has been great to work with Bob . . . and we wish him all the best for the future."
