STAGS manager Billy McEwan has revealed why on-loan Forest keeper Paddy Gamble missed Tuesday night's 2-0 defeat at Kidderminster.
Late on Tuesday afternoon McEwan - now disappointed with the fourth successive League defeat which left the Stags just one point off the drop zone in the Blue Square Premier - was forced to bring in Jamie Annerson on an emergency loan.
The 20-year-old went straight into the team for the defeat at Harriers - but could not be faulted for either goal.
Afterwards McEwan said that Gamble had been involved in a car crash at the weekend which had left him shaken.
The manager said: "He was a passenger in a car with two other Nottingham Forest players. The car spun a couple of times and came off the road. He was shaken and could not play tonight."

Talking about the defeat, which saw the Stags slup a further place in the BSP table, he added: "I thought for 75 minutes we were in the game against a high flying team. All of a sudden we lost concentration and the goal killed us.
"We had chances to score. There were two opportunities where we should have done better. I thought we could have got something from the game.
"I am disappointed for the fans and players. We worked really hard.
"We are in a battle now, but we can't feel sorry for ourselves.

However, McEwan was upbeat about the news a few hours earlier that the takeover of the football club had finally been completed.
McEwan, brought to Field Mill in the summer by the new owners Andy Perry, Steve Middleton and Andy Saunders, said: "This will bring stability to the club and I can sit down now and make plans with the new owners.
"It has been a difficult time for the club in recent years, we are trying to build it up now and take it forward."
