MANSFIELD Town will begin the new Blue Square Premier season with a home clash against Steve Evans' Crawley Town - as predicted by boss David Holdsworth.
"I had a premonition we would get them so it was quite amazing we did," he told official web site www.mansfieldtown.net

"I thought the lads were winding me up when they told me. Never in a million years could I have known - I don't draw the games myself!"

Another coincidence is that Crawley provided the opposition at Field Mill for Holdsworth's first game in charge back in January.

"It was a real battle against an umcompromising Crawley, but we lived up to our expectations and managed their expectations," said Holdworth.

"Looking down the list there are some good games in there and we want to go toe to toe with every team.

"We play Luton twice before the end of the year. Is that a good thing? Only if you win. The run-in looks an interesting one too."

The first away game for the Stags is the mouthwatering journey to relegated Luton Town on 11th August.

The traditionally busy Christmas period sees David Holdsworth's men travel to York City on Boxing Day before entertaining the Minstermen on New Year's Day at Field Mill.

Those clashes with York sandwich a home clash with beaten play-off finalists Cambridge United on 28th December.

The Stags round off the season by welcoming Kidderminster Harriers to Field Mill on 24th April.

But fans face two gruelling Tuesday night away hauls to Barrow and Gateshead.

Maybe we need to be well in the playoffs before the last 7 games which look very dodgy. It will be so nice to see "fatboy evans" in his shorts again so soon.....

They`re definitely 2 very tough games to start with,but 6 points will show everyone that;
THE STAGS ARE BACK!!!

Think back 12 months & the one thing that struck me, was that most of the sides we played, in the few month or so, just werent fit.Was that why we had a "Flyer"?

Will Luton set off flying,or will they adopt the "We`ll p*ss this league" attitude?

Fitness levels will need to be good, with 14 games in 52 days(7 per month for Aug & Sept). No doubt Reg will know that!

Nice to see Wimbledon kept away until late on in the season, but then again,DO WE FEAR ANYONE???

COME ON YOU MIGHTY YELLOWS!!!
BRING IT ON!!!

Famous last words Old Stag!!!
This is going to be a very tough league to get out of but I do believe a top five finish is well within our reach.
Come on you Stags!!!

A whopping 69 points by the 1st of December and a 12 point lead over 2nd place Oxford should be no problem. The 2nd half of the season might be a little more tough though as we progress relentlessly on towards the title and FA Trophy and FA Cup finals. (now Nay Nay has gone who is gonna score a hat trick at Old Trafford?) We might have to settle for a couple of draws in the next 23 games. So 136 points should just about do it. POSITIVE OR WHAT !!!!!!!!
