GARY Silk notched his first goal in a Mansfield Town shirt today - but finished on the losing side as Stags went down 2-1 at Crawley Town on Saturday.
"First half we never really started and by the time we had gone 1-0 down it was too late for us," he said.

"I thought Crawley passed the ball well and they had three up front which pinned us back a bit and both full backs - me and Alex Jeannin - struggled to get out.

"We didn't get good possession of the ball to kickstart our afternoon either.

"But we stuck together and in the last half hour we had a few chances and might have got a draw."

On his goal, he added: "Nathan Arnold had a shot which the keeper saved and spilled and Matty Somner flicked it to me and I hit it first time instinctively and luckily it flew into the roof of the net.

"I didn't celebrate much as I just wanted to get the ball back for the kick off and try to get a second. We did have a few half chances, but nothing would fall for us."
