MANSFIELD Town say they are delighted with the number of season tickets sold following the end of their eight-week campaign, and can announce they have doubled the number of season tickets sold last season.
The counting process is still ongoing, but as of 9.30am yesterday, Stags had sold over 2,000 adult equivalents at the discounted rate and over 2,500 in total, two concession counting for one adult.

The club are now expecting to play in front of 3,000 people on average for home matchdays next season.

This is almost double the amount of tickets sold throughout last season, when 1,348 tickets were bought, of which 709 were adults.

Chairman Andrew Perry told the club's official website www.mansfieldtown.net: "It was an ambitious target to try and get 3,000 adults to sign up, but we are an ambitious club with high aims."

"It is a fantastic response from the people of Mansfield – who know we are trying to do all we can to get people into Field Mill."

Said boss David Holdsworth: "As first team manager, I am thrilled with the response from our dynamic season ticket scheme.

"Knowing that we are likely to play in front of bigger crowds next season is likely to help improve the atmosphere around the ground and ultimately lift the players.

"It will give us an extra boost ahead of next season should even more people sign up," he added.

Originally, the club had hoped to sell 3,000 adult tickets at the start of the eight week campaign.

Said chairman Andrew Perry: "Like any good business, we had a back up plan which will now be implemented.

"The Mansfield public can help us even more by supporting our off the field activities."

"Should these events be supported then we will fill the shortfall from the original season ticket budget.

"We remain confident for a very fruitful season, both on and off the pitch. Everything at Mansfield Town is now geared towards one aim – promotion."

Recently, the club had staged a hugely successful Champions Dinner evening in their newly named Kevin Bird Suite, where over 100 people were present.

They are now planning a variety of events throughout the course of next season, with a Fathers' Day luncheon and Wimbledon Dinner on the forthcoming calendar.

Meanwhile, plans are underway to try to reduce stewarding costs for next season.

Supporters can still buy a season ticket for the forthcoming campaign, with prices now reverting to: £300 – adults, £185, concessions, £99 and juniors (13-16).

The club are currently writing to all season ticket applicants with collection details and are thanking fans for their support before a ball has even been kicked.

Season ticket books are anticipated to be available to collect from Monday, 13th July.

Two additional tickets from the season ticket book can only be used for Mansfield's home friendly matches against Walsall on Tuesday, 28th July and Hartlepool United on Saturday, 1st August.

The club have started the process of banking cheques, submitting credit/debit cards or making monthly payment arrangements and expect to begin to confirm or allocate seats by the end of June.

Car parking space for a home matchday will also be more limited than last season.

Supporters who wish to apply for a seasonal parking pass are advised to apply early to avoid disappointment.

Season ticket holders will be given first priority, priced at £75. Book now by calling the club on 01623 482482.

Prices for a parking slot on a match by match basis will now cost £3 for season ticket holders and £5 for non-season ticket holders.

Congratulations to Mr Perry and Co. they have now completed the life saving task and saved the club from dying.

Now they are on the path of recovery and they need our support, they are doing a great job in giving us the vehicle to do it.

Lets hope they gain the rewards there efforts deserve.

Spiritater,

Bored coz theres no footy world 03/06/2009 16:46:16
To be quite honest they've exceeded my expectations, I was thinking around 1600 all told....so well done to the club AND all the SUPPORTERS (coz thats what you are...not fans, supporters ie you've put your money into the club......not some telly fan.) Now the 3000 expected average home attendance is I think a little on the conservative side. You should really be looking at 3300-3600 all those people entitled to bring as many kids as they like in free, plus away supporters, plus (hopefully if we start having a good season) all those people who think about jumping on the bandwagon for the ride, wishing they had invested in a season ticket.
Should we fall below 3000 then it will be obvious that the product on the pitch is woeful. David this is YOUR team and your season.......go on pal make us all proud to say " Yes I am a Mansfield Town Supporter and we are going UP "

One thing I have noticed is that all our pre season games bar one are at home so far. With the away day troubles of last term we should be trying to fix the players mindset on BANISHING the 'AWAY DAY BLUES' with a few games on foreign soil dont you think.

Trying to work out the figures.
If we`ve sold 2500 in total & 2 concessions = 1 adult,we must have sold 1500 adult tickets.
1500 + 1000 concessions = 2000 equivalent Adults.
That`s pretty good for a Non-League side & will be better than most in League 2
As spiritater says,it`s now up to DH to deliver the goods.........No pressure there then?

Am i missing something???
DH says he`s after 3 more players.
That would give us a squad of just 18,with 2 Youth Teamers,Naylor & Ryan, who are going out on loan.
Is 18 enough???
5 or 6 injuries & you couldnt even fill the Subs bench!
Anyone else thinking the same?

Think it is gonna be a very tight ship Delboy. Still there is always the loan system to use, maybe get the likes of Ollie Hotchkiss on a season long loan. That would be quality business sense wouldnt it ?

Aint it nice though to be talking about GOOD things ie players, supporters and football. Remember this time last year how we all felt there was no tomorrow and the Booth, Haslam, John Whatever his name was, Derry, Hancock saga was in full flow, and the club was on its knees. This season is giving me far more optimism than last year. But then football is afunny game thats why we love it. Hope this time next year I am writng in anticipation of the forthcoming League 2 season

Spiritater your maths is up the shoot!! We have 18 now excluding Naylor aka Marriott Sandercombe, Gardner Garner Jones Graham Silk Heginbottom Shaw Mills D'alryea Somner Briscoe Williams Speight Clare and Duffy so 3 more is 21 including Naylor. How many do we need. Stop the negativity as DH would say.

Ravenshead Stag you need to read the right posts for the right people. I aint never mentioned numbers, i only said it would be a tight ship, which it will be with no reserve team. As for negativity, cannot see any negative comment on this subject from me or am I missing something? See post 5 and hassle Delboy about it.
