The 19-year-old netted his first goal for the club and made another on his full debut in Saturday's 3-0 home FA Cup success over non-League Lewes.

But he joined the walking wounded today and manager Billy Dearden at least has the luxury of two clear weeks without a game to get players back to fitness now.

Lee Bell battled bravely through 85 minutes of Saturday's game with a nasty shin injury and is now back under the physio.

Winger Nathan Arnold (ankle), defender Alex John-Baptiste (back strain) have already joined Chris Wood (ankle), Simon Brown and Martin McIntosh (both hamstring) in the treatment room.

And big striker John McAliskey is still not 100 per cent after his abscess and swollen glands last week.

This weekend's game with Wrexham is off due to Welsh international call-ups for the Dragons. But Dearden said: "Even though we have six or seven players out, I still think we have got enough on board to have played Wrexham at home this week.

"We have just won three home games on the bounce, scoring 10 and conceding none so we are putting a bit of home form together.

"But, if we are going to have a break then I suppose it's not a bad time with the injuries.

"I didn't even realise Rory had a problem until he came in today.

"Alex is touch and go with his back strain for our next game.

"It is the same problem he has been suffering with for a while and I felt it best to rest it just now as he has been really jarring it with us training on such hard grounds recently.

"We will have to see how Simon Brown goes this week – you can never tell how long players will be out with hamstring problems.

"I expect Chris Wood and Martin McIntosh back in training this week and I will try to sort out a friendly this week or next to give players a game who need one.

"I am hoping big John McAliskey will be feeling better this week.

"He was on anti-biotics last week and, although I put him on the bench on Saturday in case we needed him for a set piece near the end, he was nowhere near his usual self."
