BILLY Dearden said today he is still hopeful two of his three initial targets will join the club during the transfer window as he continued the waiting game.
But he admitted one could go elsewhere, tempted by the lure of 18-month deals.

"I am waiting on a couple of calls and we are still very much in the reckoning," he said.

"One of the biggest problems is that I cannot offer them 18-month deals and one of them has two other clubs after him who will which could make him go the other way.

"All I can do is sign players for the season with the proviso they will get another 12 months if we stay in the League.

"I may have to change direction but I am a patient man. I could have brought in two or three players to satisfy supporters last week but would they have been the right ones for us?

"Two or three clubs in our league did just that last week but didn't get the results they expected at the weekend.

"I am still looking to strengthen but the return of Micky Boulding and John McAliskey this week gives me a bit more time."
