MANSFIELD Town boss Billy McEwan says he may secure the signature of a new player before the weekend.
Speaking after the 1-0 friendly win at Ilkeston, which again featured a host of trialists, he told Chad: "It was a good work-out and a good surface to play on.

  • Stags win at Ilkeston

"The lads are still searching for their touch though I thought there were one or two good performances out there tonight. But let's not forget it was only our second game and it was another good test.

"I am still looking at players and I am waiting on one or two phone calls. But there is a chance of someone putting pen to paper before the weekend.

"We did have one or two new faces in tonight but I am not prepared to say who they are as one their names get out then someone else will probably come in and sign them.

I have put all the spadework in to get these players here and I don't want anyone taking them from under our noses."
