Mark Yates' side have only taken one point from their first two games and Stags' new owners will be hoping for an even bigger turn out after almost 2,700 home fans were well entertained in Tuesday night's 1-0 win over Histon.

New boss Billy McEwan's side played some exciting football in the first half and he said that is the style that can bring them success.

"We do want to do well in this division playing football the right way," he said.

"Anyone who knows me or has watched my teams knows that.

"That's how you become successful – it's as simple as that.

"Manchester United do it at their level, West Brom walked the Championship playing football, Carlisle got up by playing football, Barnet won the Conference by 18 points by playing football, Hereford got promotion by playing football. That is the way ahead.

"I am looking forward to the Kidderminster game as much as the players and fans.

"The fans have been outstanding so far and made a lot of noise. I am sure they give is a lot of atmosphere which gives the players an extra yard.

"They get behind you when they can see the effort and commitment from the players which has been absolutely outstanding in the last one and a half games.

"They have adapted well to what I have asked them to do, but it is early days yet on the football calendar."

He added: "We have had a report on Kidderminster and they are a decent side, even though they dew with Lewes and lost to Cambridge.

"But anyone can beat anyone in the league – that's how crazy it is.

"If you are mentally not right and switch off or think you've made it, I know from past experience you will end up getting stuffed.

"The team dynamics will improve. They are still getting to know each other."

"Winning games gives confidence but we are not getting carried away. There is a long, long way to go and a lot of hard work ahead.

"The experienced players we have are vital to us as they have been here before and bought the tee shirt so to speak. They are good leaders.

"You have to get the spine of your team right which I feel we have at the minute."

However, McEwan has two injury doubts for Saturday, but declined to say who they were.
