MANSFIELD Town has released a statement confirming that 'terms have been agreed' with Colin Hancock for a takeover - but the deal is yet to be signed.
The statement, released this afternoon on the club's website, read as follows:
"MTFC is pleased to confirm recent announcements that heads of term have been agreed in principle, but not yet signed, between Mr Keith Haslam & Dr Colin Hancock for Dr Hancock to acquire the majority shareholding in the club currently held by Stags Limited. It has, and continues to be, the policy of the club not to comment until matters are finalised and all efforts are being made to conclude matters as soon as practicable.
"All at the club sincerely hope that this announcement will, finally, bring to an end the discord which has plagued the club for a considerable time and that the supporters, the business community and the media will unite in their support of the club as we attempt to bounce back to the Football League at the first attempt.
"Further announcements will be made as appropriate but, in the mean-time, no further statements will be made by any of the parties involved."
