BOULDING brothers Mickey and Rory marked their first start together with the crucial goals as Mansfield Town comfortably saw off Blue Square South opponents Lewes at Field Mill this afternoon.

The last time brothers scored for Mansfield in the same game was back in 1911 when James and William Wheatley netted.

But this afternoon Mickey made the crucial breakthrough on 33 minutes for the patient home side from Rory's low cross.

Then it was teenager Rory's turn to celebrate seven minutes later as he marked his full debut with his first Stags goal.

Lewes' afternoon was made even more miserable when defender Ian Simpemba was sent off for his second yellow card on 72 minutes.

And sub Ian Holmes added the third - his first for the club also - with a looping header on 82 minutes, four minutes after coming on.

It was largely an untidy game on a windy afternoon. But Stags were never in any danger and did a very professional job.

The home side were forced into three changes due to injury.

Nathan Arnold (ankle), Alex John-Baptise (back strain) and Simon Brown (hamstring) all missed out.

Rory Boulding came in to partner brother Mickey up front while Jelleyman started on the left of midfield.

Injured

Bell, passed fit after recovering from a midweek shin injury, went to right back with Mullins moving across to cover for John-Baptiste in the centre of defence.

And in the centre of midfield there was a first start for D'Laryea - eight months to the day he was injured at Notts County.

Inside the opening minute Rory Boulding's deflected right wing cross sailed over Williams and onto the top of the Lewes net to give the visitors an early fright.

Martin headed away the Rook's first corner in the third minute.

Binns put a dangerous ball into the box for Holloway but Buxton was there to get a foot in the way.

Simpemba was booked for hauling down Mickey Boulding as he tried to turn him and go clear.

Bell took the free kick low from 35 yards and Mullins helped it goal wards with a deft touch that forced the first save out of Williams on 12 minutes, turning it round for a corner.

Binns was allowed into the box on the left and drilled in a dangerous low cross which Mullins kicked away from almost on the goal line as the Rooks continued to impress.

Martin was shown a yellow card on 20 minutes for a body check on Wormull.

Mickey Boulding got in a far post header from Hamshaw's right wing free kick but it went down into the ground and bounced up nicely for Williams to gather.

Binns saw the afternoon's third yellow card after bringing down Dawson in the centre of the park on 23 minutes.

It was becoming a frustrating afternoon in the swirling wind with an untidy performance from the home side.

How they needed the lift of a breakthrough goal. And it came on 33 minutes courtesy of the Boulding brothers.

Hamshaw started the move with a positive run down the centre before spreading play wide to Rory on the right.

He looked up and drilled in a superb low cross right in front of goal where brother Mickey slid in to turn home from close range.

Hamshaw was inches wide from 20 yards soon after as the Stags finally began to settle down.

Whipped

Then Jelleymen whipped a lofted effort just wide from 25 yards.

Stags eased themselves into a two-goal lead five minutes from the break.

This time it was Rory Boulding's moment of glory as Hamshaw beat defender Barness before slipping a pass inside to Boulding and the teenager lashed home a low finish under Williams from a tight angle to mark his full debut with his first goal for the club.

Lewes finally managed a goal attempt on 53 minutes as Dawson gave away possession and Booth lifted a 20 yard lob over the bar.

A sliced clearance by Williams gifted the ball to Mickey Boulding just outside the box. But he took too long getting an effort in on goal and finally hit the side netting after being crowded out by two defenders.

Centre half Legge was thrown on as an extra centre forward for the visitors on 64 minutes, replacing defender Barness.

Soon after Buxton had to leave the field for treatment to a head wound but returned to cheers.

Boulding again turned Simpemba to try to go clear on 72 minutes, was hauled back for a second time and a second yellow was produced, earning him an early bath and all but ending the Rooks' hopes of a revival.

Rory Boulding whistled a shot narrowly over from 18 yards as we entered the final 15 minutes.

Then Mickey Boulding drilled a low shot across the face of goal just ahead of the incoming Dawson.

Holmes came on for Rory Boulding on 78 minutes and got in on the scoring action four minutes later - his first for the club - with a superb looping header that dropped into the net over Williams from Hamshaw's right wing cross.

Booth scuffed a shot straight to Muggleton soon after as the Rooks looked for a consolation.

Then Hamshaw cut inside to accelerate and get in a vicious shot straight at Williams that the keeper held at the second attempt,

But Stags were in the hat after a thoroughly professional showing.
