WITH a dire defeat at Dagenham ending Mansfield Town's relegation season today, Paul Holland will this week press the club for a decision on his future and begin to implement his plans for a return to League football.
Holland wants an answer by Wednesday and has already begun to discuss players' futures.

Today's 2-0 defeat for a depleted and lacklustre side also saw skipper Jake Buxton given his third red card of the season for shirt pulling as last man.

"It was a horrible day at the end of a disappointing season," said Holland.

"Now things must be sorted out on and off the pitch. I am sure that is what every single Mansfield Town fan wants

"I want to know my future - hopefully by Wednesday at the latest. I have spoken to people and was told to get the weekend out of the way.

"We have had a chat and I have got to come up with a plan that I think will move this football club forwards.

"I have a list of players I want to leave the club and a list of players I want to bring in. I believe a massive change in personnel is the way forward.

"Today proved we need an absolutely massive clear-out.

"I have already spoken to six or seven players with League experience already who want to come to Mansfield Town.

"I have my own ideas. Today showed what we need.

"I have spoken individually to our current players and inevitably some have already got clubs interested in them."

Holland was forced into five changes through injury and illness today and added: "We had to get by with what we'd got though I was going to put the kids on later whatever happened.

"I thought Jake Buxton's sending off was a strange decision. I think it changed the game. With him off and a very young side out there by the end it was tough.

"We went behind from a set piece and we struggled with them all day. It doesn't help when your three main headers are out.

"Coming to a place like this it was always going to be difficult with Dagenham's fans and players quite rightly in party spirit after managing to stay up.

"But our supporters were magnificent. It must have been a horrible day for them. But they have been brilliant all season. You couldn't ask for anything more and those behind the goal today were definitely the true Mansfield Town fans."

Come on give Paul the managers job, he's the one that can get us back in to League Two. Paul is the only one who is trying to do something with the team, i.e. getting a reserve team going again, he's already said that he is going to get rid of alot of players, so he must have a fair few players in mind. Lets give Paul the chance, he knows the club very well, and more importantly he is a fan of Mansfield Town, and so he cares what happens to the club too.

Think i agree dave . . . though today's decision to play martin, buxton and brown were staggering given that none will be at the club next season and younger players would have benefitted from 90 mins experience.

I was all for holland to be manager, not so sure now because today was absolutely pathetic, we didnt travel 3 hours there and back to watch a youth team/reserves.

What possible reason could be given for keeping Paul Holland? He has made naive decisions in too many games since he took over and refuses to admit that he got it wrong on the last day of the transfer window.
We have relied on Louis, Brown and Boulding since that day and there was no alternative as he let everyone else go.
We have gone down with a whimper and he should be embarrassed that he is demanding to keep his job when the fans are hurting terribly tonight after our relegation.

Please leave Holland and take the vast majority of the squad who have simply not put the work in this season with you.

At last! This season's agony is over. The worst ever in 48-ish years supporting the Stags although one or two good performances and talented players (thanks Micky, Johnny and Bappa) kept me hoping right up until the end.

I didn't go today as I couldn't bear to watch so I know Bernie Kitten (junior) will think I'm a fair weather supporter. Maybe so. I'm now thinking of boycotting Field Mill until the Count of Calver goes. And I don't think he will go until he's pushed so it may be a long time till I walk up Quarry Lane again. Haslam seems to be able to get away with everything. Too ill to go to court this week. I ask you! I just hope that one day he really gets what he deserves.

To be fair though, everyone in the league has had a chance to get new players in, Paul only had the chance to get people on loan, but you couldn't expect him to get players in for the sake of it in less than a week. It all goes back to the man Keith Haslam, and it is true what Bobby Hassall said, when he was playing they had the ability to get to the Championship its just that Keith Haslam didn't want to invest any of his money, so the players had to go, the likes of Bobby Hassall, Liam Lawrence, Craig Disley, Lee Peacock, Chris Greenacre, Richie Barker etc...
But in fairness i think we need to concentrate on the future and give Paul Holland the chance to prove people wrong and get Mansfield back into League Two. He will have a couple of months to get the players he needs, Paul just needs the chance to get the players he wants in the Summer transfer window. Dutch has my full backing. YELLOWS!!!!

Just to add to my last comment, a more senior caption needs to be appointed, Jake Buxton shouldn't be captain, he's too young, and he is not a leader, i know some people may not agree with me, but he has been off the past couple of seasons, since he joined first team football i don't think he has been 100% with us. When he first started out i rated him very highly, but now i'm not so sure! Just ashame Martin McIntosh had to retire early.

As I`ve said before,I`ve NOT been a fan of Dutch, but I wouldnt be too upset to see him as Manager. However,he MUST get a really good Coach....John Gannon was a big part of Keith Curles success & could be just the man we need.If its not Dutch, who could be pursuaded to come to a club like this with all the off field antics?????There is one man I would definitely welcome...Steve Cotterill....He has experience of The Conference, getting Cheltenham up.He didnt do too bad at Sunderland or Burnley, but would he come????
