. . . . but still no word on Mansfield Town takeover
MANSFIELD Town have released seven first team players as the club begins to look to the future following relegation.
The players not offered new deals by boss Paul Holland are Lee Bell, Simon Brown, Jonathan D'Laryea, Matthew Hamshaw, Ian Holmes, Dan Martin and Carl Muggleton.
Muggleton had been an assistant to Holland following the departure of Billy Dearden.
Midfielders Bell and D'Laryea - long-term injury victims at various parts of the ill-fated season - had also expressed a desire to stay at Field Mill following relegation.
Star striker Mickey Boulding heads a list of out-of-contract players offered new terms by the club.
New deals are also on the table for Boulding's brother Rory, Jake Buxton, Stephen Dawson, Gareth Jelleyman, Johnny Mullins, Lewis Trimmer and Chris Wood.
Captain Buxton had hinted before the last match of the season that his future may lie elsewhere.
- Stags' bosses need to show ambition
If Buxton, Dawson and player of the year Mullins do not accept the new deals - and there are rumours that these players have already been targetted by League clubs - the Stags would receive compensation as the players are under 24.
Three youth team players - Warren Burrell, Ryan Goward and Jamie McGhee - will be offered professional contracts ahead of next season.
Nathan Arnold, Alex John-Baptiste, Ashley Kitchen and Jason White are still under contract at Field Mill - although John-Baptiste has had a transfer request accepted by the club.
His exit from the club hit the headlines in midweek when a leaked e-mail from his agent revealed that the player was available 'on the cheap' for £75,000 ahead of a proposed sale of Mansfield Town.

He is rumoured to be interesting League One outfit Millwall, while Mickey Boulding has been linked with moves to League Two sides Lincoln and Bradford.
Hamshaw has already expressed a hope of joining the Imps next season.
Manager Holland is expected to reveal more about the situation on Monday morning.
Two weeks ago he warned that he expected upto 75% of the players to be allowed to leave the club.
- I want manager's job by weekend
But Holland is also still waiting to find out if he will be the manager next season, despite repeated calls for a decision to be made on his future.
On Friday the club said there would be no statement about the current takeover situation at Field Mill.A week earlier chief executive Stephen Booth said he had been involved in buyout talks that morning when: "During the course of this meeting a proposal for the buyout of the club was put forward and was well received.
"Mr Haslam is now consulting his various professional advisors with regard to the detail and I am anticipating a formal response within the next 72 hours."
And on Monday Mansfield mayor and Stags chairman Tony Egginton said that an announcement on the takeover saga was expected that day.
At the same time manager Holland told Chad: "I have been told that it is likely something may happen this week regarding the takeover."
But even though owner Keith Haslam was seen in takeover talks in Sheffield with John Batchelor on Tuesday - and Stephen Booth has held discussions with other interested parties - the club has remained tight-lipped on the drawn-out takeover all week.
