A PLAN to rename Mansfield Town Football Club to Harchester United - the fictional team from Sky TV soap opera Dream Team.
It was the story which rocked the country on Friday - and it was brought to you first here at Chad.co.uk.

We exclusively revealed the bizarre proposal from would-be Stags owner John Batchelor and within minutes it was being featured on media outlets - TV, radio, newspapers and websites - throughout the UK.

Chad.co.uk was also first with the news that the unconventional businessman, bidding to buy Mansfield Town, also wants to include the Field Mill stadium as part of his takeover plans.

On a dramatic day at Mansfield Town FC, there was also plans for an Anglo-European pre-season tournament with Red Star Belgrade, the resignation of chairman James Derry after the collapse of his takeover bid - a development exclusively revealed here on Thursday - and the first reporting of financial details of the failed deal.

If i purchased the Palace Theatre wouldn't i be allowed to re-name it "THE BUG HUT" (no insult to our lovely theatre meant)That was its nickname in the 1930's "You walk in and ride out!" Before you all jump on my back, I WANT our clubs name to remain as it is, but I dont OWN it. The mistake is, YOU are demanding! and that is fatal,he will defy you and lose no sweat. Use your heads, if this bloke buys, (and there's nowt we can do to stop him IF he has got the cash)show him you really care for the STAGS. An olive branch is far more likely to succeed than the stick. Dont go bawling and shouting and waving silly banners you only make yourselves look foolish. And i'll bet there are many supporters who feel the same.

Why o Why cant the people at MTFC see from all these emails from so many people who have had dealings with the CON MAN that we must be right about him,and that the club should tell him to stick his money where the sun doesnt shine. Now that would be a painful experience for most of us but has much as I would like him to suffer some pain as he hasnt any money then it wont hurt a bit ,will it ?

He even let one of his staff go on holiday with out much money as she was expecting him to pay her the day she flew. Yes you guessed it she arrived but her ewages didnt.2 weeks with out money which became 2 months. He's a lrying scum bag and many others have him in their sites too
