MANSFIELD Town fans are still being urged to boycott games - and join an organised protest before the home game with Accrington Stanley over Christmas.

Supporters group Stags Fans For Change (SFFC) on Friday reiterated its stance against controversial owner Keith Haslam after its statement earlier in the week created confusion among some fans.

  • New chief executive meets 3 fans groups

On Friday the SFFA said:

"Following our meeting with Mr Booth, SFFC announced that we were not changing our stance unless Mr Booth brought a radical change to the club.

"Some fans and possibly Mr Haslam appear to have taken that as a softening of SFFC's approach to what has recently happened at our club.

"SFFC wish to make it clear that they are still urging fans to boycott games, not buy programmes, souvenirs and drinks in the X Bar and that the Accrington game (on Saturday 29th December) will be the one dsignated for a demonstration on the banking (opposite the West Stand).

"We are fully aware that our club is losing money on a week by week basis.

"SFFC believes there is a relatively simple answer to the problem, certainly in the medium term - and that is for those responsible for running the football club to require the repayment of the loan made to Stags Ltd, owned by Mr Haslam, which amounts to £585,000.

"That £585,000 and money from the FA Cup run would put this club on a stronger footing than almost any other in the lower division.

"It would enable us to build for the future and a future without Keith Haslam."

And I urge you all to GET BACK TO FIELD MILL and support the team. I do agree that the loan repayment should be called in by Mr Booth as this cancels out the estimated £500,000 loss this season, but I do not agree with these boycotts. It will not have the desired effect on two fronts. 1) We are bottom of the entire league – do we not understand this; the guys on the field need us supporting them. 2) ‘Cut of all income streams to the club will only serve to putting us into administration, think about it, no income = no players/staff wages paid therefore Dearden forced to sell players to cover the costs = then administration = 10 or 15 points deducted = bye, bye league. Boycotts are not a short term/ medium term solution to secure our long term future because there would be no long term future; the SFFC proposed short term solution will see us dead and buried in the Conference. I’ll be walking through the turnstiles to truly support the club we love (and yes I will expect the abuse from the ‘picket line’ because as seen at previous home games, you will verbally abuse those that have a different opinion to yourselves). GET BACK TO FIELD MILL AND SUPPORT YOUR TEAM THE RIGHT WAY

What a load of tripe 3stag! I challenge you to bring to the press one person that has been verbally abused by anyone from SFFC. Your statement is based on what evidence exactly? I have seen virtually every single demonstration and action that SFFC has been involved in and the simple truth is that it is that group that has had to run the gauntlet of abuse and ridicule from people with differing views. I have personally witnessed fully grown men verbally abuse and swear at children, violence being threatened by some and others that have thrown things at peaceable demonstrators. Try speaking with the Police Football Liaison Officer and ask him his opinion of the conduct of SFFC and its supporters- you will find a more than satisfied officer. People are entitled to their own opinions and should be able to express them as appropriate - what should not be allowed is for ill-informed people to peddle half-truths that mispresent well-meaning people who care about the future of the club they support. Please stick to the facts in future. Haslam Out!!

i too have scene protesters abused by those going INTO the ground!!!! As for the argument that not going doesn't help the players or the finances and will lead to administration? As you yourself said 3stag, Haslam repaying the loab will end all the financial arguments for this season - so protesting can not be blamed for the financial problems. As for the support, errm the players get fantatsic support at most away matches and we havent won away since March. End of!

How can I be ill-informed when I attend all the games. Looks like there is 2 sides to the story considering you are saying that the protestors are getting abuse from those attending Field Mill!! Trust me when I say that yes abuse goes on in the stands for those who do not share your belief’s and I will trust you when you say that the protestors also get abuse. However that is not what the main of the discussion is about. The reply ignores the main discussion which is about the protests. I am no longer a fan of Mr Haslam but do believe the ‘cut all income streams’ is the road to administration and out of the football league. The actions that are proposed are simply ill-timed. Failure is not being in the football league and this action will seal that fate. I am also concerned that this is a personal vendetta against SFFC and Mr Haslam, and the club will become the victim of both parties’ actions. I wish I could offer an alternative option but cannot think of one that will not harm the club. What I would like to see is that all parties fight to stay in the league. Once guaranteed then these actions could be more palatable. But at the moment we all know that the £500k loan will not get paid immediately, so to cut of the only income into the club will bring administration and points deducted. Already 7 points from safety, do you really want this to be 17 points from safety, of course we don’t, do we.
