DEFENDER James Kay has been named in the Stags reserves side to face Walsall at Field Mill on Wednesday afternoon.
It confirms a report by StagsWatch on Monday that the 19-year-old was on trial at Mansfield Town.

Kay was released by Sheffield Wednesday in the summer and featured in last week's behind-closed-doors friendly with Burton.

Another trialist also featured in the Central League Cup clash, keeper Ross Atkins.

First team substitute regulars this season Gavin Hurren, Tom Shaw and Anthony Robinson all started.

MANSFIELD TOWN: Atkins, Allsopp, Burrell, Hurren, McCormick, McGhee, Shaw, Robinson, Trimmer, Goward. Subs: Ryan, Herriott, Pursicoe, Croucher, Naylor.
