POLICE predict future arrests will be made in connection with the assault on Mansfield Town FC owner Keith Haslam.
The controversial boss of the Stags sustained minor head injuries after he was attacked in the boardroom shortly after Saturday's home defeat at Field Mill, which left the club on the brink of relegation.

Several fans tried to storm the directors area and some managed to avoid a wall of police and stewards to reach the boardroom, where Mr Haslam was assaulted.

A 45-year-old Mansfield man who was initially arrested in relation to the incident has since been released on police bail pending further enquiries.

Chief Inspector John Eyre explained: "We are investigating what happened when supporters converged on the boardroom and the subsequent attack on the club's owner.

"We have seized CCTV of the event and are studying the tapes to identify those involved and to progress the inquiry - that may involve further arrests.

"If you were one of those involved I would suggest that now is a very good time to come forward," said Chief Inspector Eyre.

Anyone with information is asked to contact PC Carl Gabbitas Football Liaison Officer at Mansfield Police Station on 01623 420999 ext 3235 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.

What are the chances of Stephen Booth being arrested for impersonating a Chief Executive?

sensibescarf, i suggest you are THE minority in your views.
Yes Haslam is the best thing to happen to Mansfield Town in its history and without the interference of those pesky fans, he could've gotten away with it!!

Wake up and smell the coffee man!
What were fans supposed to do? Sit back and watch him rip the fans off year after year and say nothing, do nothing?

The fact that Haslam owes this club nearly HALF A MILLION POUNDS is not worth a mention eh?
The fact that he has invested absolutely not one penny of his money into the club, whilst taking a handsome well deserved , salary every year - yeah your right, we should've said nothing!!

After everything that's happened over the last 15 years there are STILL people that back Haslam.

He got that bit right.

Yes, you are thick. I am not a supporter of Haslam - not my idea of a good guy BUT if the fans humoured him he would be better than this Batchelor or any other likely buyer. If you keep going on about the loans and what Haslam has done it has been largely within the Law apart from a few instances. That's because you can do what you like with your business if you own it. He has not cheated you - he owned all, thicko.

If you think we'd have been in any other position than we are now by not challenging Haslam then you need your bumps felt, the guy has only ever had one strategy and that's running the club on the minimum outlay possible (as long as it came from me and you) whilst creaming the rest off the top.

That might be ok for you whilst you cover your ears and shout 'I'm not listening' - you just keep blindly buying your season tickets that come with the free blinkers so that you dont have to see whats really happening, just so that you've got something to do Saturday afternoons, but it's not ok for me.

Mr Sensiblescarf- who is the thicko now?
He breaks the law, but only on a few instances- well thats OK then. I suppose you think drink driving but only a few instances, is also OK? And just because he someone owns a business it does not mean they can do what they want...there are laws on how a business should be managed...
crawl back under your stone thicko.
