STAGS manager Billy Dearden slammed the modern trend for panic-sacking football club bosses after seeing opposite number Steve Thompson bite the dust ahead of Saturday's local derby against former club Notts County.
Dearden said: "I think we have seen 14 managers go already this season and we've only played 12 or 13 games which disappoints me. It's almost one a game!

"I don't think they give you the chance to do the job at any level now.

"John Schofield at Lincoln was given a three-year contract the other month and now all of a sudden they think he can't do the job and sacked him.

"I really can't see the point."

Schofield left Lincoln on Monday and Saturday's opponents parted company with Steve Thompson a day later, with Ian 'Charlie' McParland stepping in at Meadow Lane on Thursday.
