SPECULATION is growing that the protracted takeover of Mansfield Town FC could finally be completed this week.
Rumours that a deal could be struck in the next few days comes amid reports that Stags owner Keith Haslam had been spotted 'in talks' with controversial would-be buyer John Batchelor in a Sheffield pub on Tuesday.

News of the reported sighting comes after chief executive Stephen Booth - brought into broker a deal to sell the club for Mr Haslam - revealed on Thursday that the club could be sold within days.

Chad exclusively revealed last week that Mr Haslam appeared to have five possible sale choices - Mr Batchelor who claims he is the front runner, Glapwell chairman and local man Colin Hancock, an Australian consortium, a Mansfield-based group and a possible interest from two or three local businessmen in a deal which would see the controversial owner retain 30 per cent of the club.

Mr Batchelor refused to comment on the reports he had met Mr Haslam when contacted by Chad on Tuesday afternoon.

Well on the bright side, if soup boy gets the club I'll save a fortune on entrance money.

At least Keith is keeping to his promise to sell to the bidder that will be the best for the clubs future - NOT!!!

That must be the first time John Batchelor has refused to comment! I'm hoping that means he's had the wind taken out of his sails and that another deal is in the offing.

After years of listening to Haslam's false declarations, after a year or so of listening to Mr Derry's waffle, after months of listening to Mr Booth's announcements and not forgetting Mr Meale's absolute gems then

I could not possibly comment !

So many false promises, so many lies, how does mr booth or haslam expect us to believe a word they say.
We have waited and waited and 72 hours have passed and still no real answer from the club and then we get this batchelor likely to be owner so were back to stage 1 we dont want batchelor stripping any final assets.

Batchelor OUT! Batchelor OUT!........I wonder what SFU are planning now that they`ve finally forced Haslam OUT????............No need to worry lads.........If Batchelor DOES get it,then there probably wont be anything to protest about, because I doubt we`ll have a club......MANSFIELD TOWN ,REST IN PEACE!!!!!!!Mr Booth & Mr Eggington,I thought the idea was to sell the club to someone who would "Rejuvinate" it.SO IS BATCHELOR THAT SOMEONE?????Oh dear,Oh dear......

Really hope he asn't sold to Batchelor but with no word about Holland getting the job or not and Batchelor saying all along that he'd get shut of Holland, I'm starting to think that the sold the club as been to Batchelor

Stop moaning, life is to short. live and let live, after all it is a game, like life, that is a game played by us all. Sadly, those with the cash control. Just wait, things might not turn out so bad, if you think down trodden, you WILL be down trodden. Think positive, we know it's hard but just give it a try. After all, the STAGS need us to think positive! look forward to what is around the corner????? hey presto! That was a good match!

Delboy the Stag, it is time to set the record straight on this. Yes, I have closed companies down previously, however, only when the management teams have not delivered on what they said that they could do. I don't enjoy it, but in my world, it is a sad fact of life that sometimes that has to happen. If a company is failing, I give it a chance, but you can't go on doing that forever. That is not my intention at Mansfield, relax, you might even enjoy it!
As far as anything people say about me on the internet, I really don't give a fig. 99% will be under achieving former employees with a grudge, if they had done their job, then they wouldn't have been out of work. I have no interest in their opinion of me, the people who I care about live in my house. Everything else is just business.

I take it then Mr Batchelor that you have employed a lot of people in your time (though most of them only briefly looking at the Companies House register) if you think that 99% of your critics are ex-employees? Because there seem to be an awful lot of people who dont want you to get your grubby little paws on their football club...

Why dont you 'relax, and enjoy it' - far far away from Mansfield Town football, and dont bother coming back.

By the way, you have never employed me, you couldnt afford me.
