13.50: Former Manchester United, Aston Villa and Forest boss Ron Atkinson will be the special guest at a Mansfield Town luncheon in the Field Mill executive lounge on Friday, 14th November (12.30-2.30pm). One of football's biggest characters and most popular speakers, 'Big Ron' will be telling some of his best stories and then conducting questions and answers with diners. Tickets are £65 and include a four course meal and a bottle of wine between two people.
10.38: Mansfield Town's away supporters are bracing themselves for the 332-mile round trip to see Saturday's Blue Square Premier league opener at Ebbsfleet. But, in one of the club's longest distance seasons ever, Stags fans face six trips of over 400 miles to clubs like Barrow, Salisbury, Torquay, Lewes, Weymouth and Eastbourne. Indeed, any Stags fan travelling to just the 23 away league games alone, without adding any cup away games to that, will cover a gruelling 6,420 miles. The Stags Supporters Association only have a handful of places left on their second coach heading for Ebbsfleet on Saturday. 10.15: The new edition of football nostalgia magazine Backpass features an interview with Stags' seventies star Colin Foster about the club's only season in the old Division Two. Foster speaks to journalist and former Notts County star Dave McVay about his time at the club during the most successful period in its history. 17.22: Former Stags captain Jake Buxton has completed his move to Blue Square Premier rivals Burton Albion. Burton boss Nigel Clough said Buxton, who played in the1-0 friendly win over Walsall on Saturday, was one of his top two transfer targets this summer, adding: "He has played an awful lot of League games and it gives us good competition." Buxton, who rejected a new contract offer from the Stags, had been hoping to land a move to League One Crewe, but he was released after a trial there.
