MEMBERS of the new board of the incoming Mansfield Town FC owners met fans group TEAM Mansfield on Saturday morning.
After attending the TM annual meeting, incoming Stags owner James Derry - heading a local consortium currently buying out controversial owner Keith Haslam - said he was very pleased with the discussions.

Mr Derry was joined at the meeting by John Thorpe, who Chad.co.uk revealed as one of the new associate directors earlier in the week.

Mr Derry said: "The meeting was very constructive and I was very pleased to meet them. We are looking forward to working with the fans over the coming months.

"We need to get the fans back to Field Mill. We listened to what they had to say.

"We just need to get the takeover completed as quickly as possible, but they understood that these things take time and that there are one or two stumbling blocks to sort out."

He added that the issue of the TM 3.3% shareholding in Mansfield Town FC - and other minority shareholdings - needed to be sorted out between Mr Haslam and the shareholders, rather than the new owners.

A TM spokesman said this afternoon: "It was a very good meeting, very constructive. We will be formulating a statement to be released next week."
