'Limbo' defender 'training with the Stags'

DEFENDER Adam Quinn, left in limbo by the demise of Halifax Town, is reported to be in training at Mansfield Town.
Sunday's Non League paper says the 25-year-old has been at Field Mill for the past week in a bid to kick-start his career.

The Halifax stalwart - who played over 200 matches for the Shaymen in the past six years - was left without a club when Halifax folded at the end of last season and were thrown out of the Conference . . . only to be reborn as FC Halifax Town.

He was the only player left contracted at the old Halifax club, as the administrators and new FC Halifax Town chairman Dave Bosomworth - who has continued to pay his wages - held out for a fee, believed to be around £20,000.

FC Halifax will be playing in Unibond League First Division North this season, and it is reported that Bosomworth has now allowed the defender to train with the Stags.

Quinn featured in Thursday's friendly win at Matlock on Thursday, but it is reported that League clubs are also interested in the player.

The former Sheffield Wednesday trainee told the NLP: "It's great to be back training with a group rather than on my own. Hopefully I can get something sorted next week and get on with the season."

Last month FC Halifax chairman Dave Bosomworth had said that he wouldn't stand in Quinn's way if a club came in for the stranded centre half.

He added: "I have sorted something out for Adam that allows him to get on with his career. He'll be able to move as soon as he gets fixed up. I'm not standing in his way."

Errm Adam he played for Halifax last season. Saw him play at Matlock on Thurs, and although he looked fairly solid I feel there are better players out there.

I cant see him being anything but a squad player anyway with moses and ohare, i think its time to bring in a few more loans tho to strengthen the team.

what positions you think we need loans in? i think we could do with another striker with pace, an attacking midfielder? possibly a left back

Having read the thing about complacency and now finding out he isnt fit i would like to retract my first statement about signing him as we dont need half fit players
