Fans, angry at yesterday's decision by the chief executive to reject a takeover over from the James Derry consortium, have planned several demonstrations at the match at non league Harrogate Railway to highlight the football club's plight.

It will be screened live on BBC's Match Of The Day on Sunday afternoon, kick-off 1.10pm

Supporters have been campaigning for more than a year to remove Mr Haslam from Field Mill - and believed they had been successful when it was announced at the beginning of October that he would be selling to Mr Derry.

But yesterday Mr Haslam refused the consortium's final offer - revised after the process of due diligence revealed that the club's finances are in a worse state than first thought.

His rejection has prompted an angry reaction on website messageboards - including many comments at Chad.co.uk with fans pledging to boycott matches - and now fans have pledged to show the national BBC 1 TV audience on Sunday the strength of feeling against the Stags owner.

Pressure group Stags Fans For Change, which has led the way in organising protests and are now organising demonstrations for this Sunday - and is also urging to fans to attend its fundraising race night at the New Ram, Mansfield, at 7.30pm tonight (Friday) to discuss the plans - click here for details.

The protests will include:

• Fans being urged to turn their backs on the pitch for five minutes at the beginning of the game - SFFC members will be distributing flyers at the ground with that request. 'This will allow supporters to keep chanting for the team whilst sending a message to Mr Haslam', said an SFFC spokesman.


• Harrogate Railway fans wearing shirts spelling HASLAM OUT. They are red with white writing and were worn by Doncaster fans at an FA Cup tie last year, see photo


• 9 Stags fans wearing blue and yellow shirts with the same HASLAM OUT message.


• Banners stating 'Haslam Out' displayed in the Station View ground.


• Releasing yellow 'IOU' balloons.
