Winding up order against Notts County dismissed

A WINDING up order issued against Notts County Football Club by Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs has been dismissed.

The petition was thrown out within a matter of seconds at a High Court hearing in London on Monday morning.

It had been brought by HMRC over unpaid bills due on 19th December last year.

But the Magpies said the club had only found out about the case on Friday and insisted their finances were up to date.

Said a statement: “The club can state, unequivocally, that the business is completely up to date with all VAT and PAYE monies and that this action is regarded by the board as both disruptive and damaging.”

Before Monday’s hearing, the club had said it would be taking legal advice and seek ‘to recover all costs associated with defending the action plus punitive damages for the harm suffered by the football club’.
