COMMANDING centre half Luke Jones has returned for a second spell at Mansfield Town.

The 25-year-old has arrived as a free transfer from Kidderminster Harriers.

He made 27 league appearances for the One Call Stadium club during the 2009/10 season.

Manager Paul Cox told mansfieldtown.net: “We watched Luke a number of times last season. He is a good all-round solid defender who is strong in the air and in the tackle.

“He is a no-nonsense character who will add grit to our backline.

“Our ‘goals for’ column was excellent last season, but we need to improve in our ‘goals against’ if we are to go one better than last season.

“We will be working hard to bring in the right type of players to achieve this.”

Jones, who is a former Blackburn Rovers trainee and was a regular for Forest Green Rovers and Kidderminster Harriers, said: “I am delighted to come back. I never really wanted to leave the club, so I’m relishing this return.”
