Wolf Hunt book play-off place in style

Sherwood Wolf Hunt ensured they secured their place in the end of season play-offs for the second year on the bounce with an emphatic 106-10 win over Derby.

The instruction was put out before the game to go and send a message to their potential play-off rivals that they mean business and won’t give up their title easily and they didn’t disappoint with this eye-catching result.

Sherwood started fast, and never let their foot off the gas in an extremely one-sided affair, tough defence and clinical ball handling being the order of the day.

Scoring over a point a minute, Sherwood never let the occasion of their final home game of the regular season go to their heads, and were ruthless throughout, leading 64-4 by half-time.

They went out in the second half with the intention of putting on a show, and some fantastic showcase tries were scored which pleased the sizeable home crowd who were watching.

A lot of credit should be given to Derby, however, who battled on in hot conditions and never gave in - even coming out after half-time and putting up a good 10 minute spell where Sherwood’s defence was well tested.

Next up for the Wolf Hunt is away at Nottingham Outlaws in their final regular season match.

A win would see Sherwood complete a clean sweep over them in their three-game City v County series. A win would also ensure a home tie in the play-off rounds.
