A team of local powerlifters, travelled to the BPF English Powerlifting, Bench Press and Deadlift Championships in Birmingham, coached by Kirkby’s five-times World Powerlifting champion Phil Beniston, and all had a successful day, breaking a whole cluster of British Records.
In the Mens 67.5kg Powerlifting Adam Beniston won with British records on the Squat and Deadlift making his best total ever to win the title.
Kirkby’s Paul Fraine won his class in the Bench Press Championships, narrowly missing a personal best of 150kg.
Meanwhile Andrew Ward lifted the English Deadlift title in his class, and twice broke the British Deadlift record, despite a recent injury.
And Collin Robinson, lifting in his first competition in many years, had a great day, breaking the British Deadlift record four times to lift the English Deadlifting title in the 125kg class.
Phil Beniston broke British records on the Squat, Deadlift and Total in the 90kg Powerlifting class. All the lifters will now compete in the BPF British Championships in August, before preparing for the WPF World Championships in Holland in November.
