Sherwood Pines Forest Park is set to host one of the UK’s biggest cross-country mountain bike events this Sunday.
The prestigious National Points Series returns to the 1,200 hectare (3,000 acre) beauty spot near Clipstone, featuring elite mountain bikers and high speed action.
Over 600 bikers and 17 teams have already entered, including British Olympian Oli Beckingsale.
Due to the event off road trails will be closed to the public on both Saturday and Sunday (26th/27th March), but spectators can still watch the thrilling drama unfold on the main day.
Chris Bray, recreation manager with the Forestry Commission, said: “Sherwood is famous for its fast, flat and hard terrain making this is a high speed event.
“There’ll be trade stands, exhibitions and demonstrations making it a terrific day.”
The event is the first round in this year’s championship, with other races to be held in North Yorkshire, Southern England, South Wales, and Plymouth.
