Cuckney strengthened their lead at the top of the Nottinghamshire Premier League with a comprehensive 115 run win over Welbeck at Langwith Lane.
in one of only two games that started on time, Welbeck won the toss and asked Cuckney to bat first. The home side closed on 198 for 8 in their 50 overs with Nick Langford (55) and Will Root (42) forming the backbone of the innings.
Jonathan Ball, who took 3-53, and skipper Martyn Dobson, who returned 3-51, led Welbeck’s attack.
Any satisfaction that Welbeck had at limiting the leaders to this below-par score was quickly dashed as they were dismissed for just 83 in 27.2 overs with Dobson being the only batsmen to make a significant mark with 39.
Richard Stroh played the winning hand with the ball taking 6-30 from 13 overs.
The Nottinghamshire Academy are firmly established in second place when they nearly revenged their only loss this season when they had the better of a draw against Clifton at Lady Bay.
The county side went to tea on an impressive 259 for 4 in their 50 overs after winning the toss.
Clifton’s reply got off to a solid start when Martin Weightman (52) and Scott McNeill (43) put on 104 for the first wicket.
But their response stumbled and in the end they hung on for a draw at 227 for 9. Tillcock rounded off a good day personally with figures of 5-63 from his 10 overs.
