Nominate now for new Chad sporting awards

ENTRIES have begun to arrive for the Chad’s first ever sports awards, which will highlight the achievements of the unsung community heroes of all ages, from the groundsman of a local junior soccer squad to local hopes for the future.

We will be holding an awards ceremony to celebrate local amateur sporting achievements on Monday, 25th June at the John Fretwell Sports Complex.

Nominate today by e-mailing emma.angell@jpress.co.uk with the category you are wishing to nominate for along with supporting information and evidence.

Deadline for entries is Friday, 8th June. The 10 categories (all amateur only) are:

Sports Personality of the Year

This award is to recognise an outstanding individual who has achieved, through sport, excellence and has represented their town, county or country in a way in which Mansfield can be proud.

The Sports Personality will also be a strong role model for younger athletes to aspire to.

Junior Sports Personality of the Year

This award is to recognise an individual under the age of 21 where their sporting achievements in the last 12 months have made them worthy of accolade.

They will have either represented themselves or a team in a local or national environment to a high standard.

Disabled Sports Personality of the Year

To reward an individual who has excelled in their given sport to achieve on a local or national level.

This person will have raised the profile of disabled activity through their involvement either through competing, coaching or volunteering.

Lifetime Achievement Award

To recognise an individual who has either achieved in sport or who has helped others to fulfil their potential through their dedication to their given sport. This person will have enhanced the sporting profile of the region.

Unsung Hero

This award is for someone who will have given time and care to help an individual or club without looking for personal gain. The award winner must have consistently shown tireless dedication and epitomise the true spirit of an unsung hero.

Coach/Manager of the Year)

This award recognises a coach/manager who has demonstrated leadership and has improved the level of performance of a team, club, school or individual.

Hope for the Future

To reward an individual who has a bright future in sport regardless of age or attainment.

This is a person who shows a true potential to go on to bigger and better things.

Outstanding Sporting Moment

This award is for a person that has in the last 12 months produced a significant performance at local or national level.

Team of the Year

To reward a team who have achieved to a level that has made them proud.

Sports Club of the Year

To reward the club which has done the most to bring together people of all ages and abilities to participate in sport and benefit from a club environment.
