There’s only one week to go before the Olympic Torch travels through Mansfield, Ollerton, Edwinstowe and Glapwell on its route to the Olympic Stadium in London and the start of the 2012 Games.

Your Chad will be at the forefront of local coverage of this momentous event - with a live video feed on our website of the Mansfield leg of the journey through North Nottinghamshire, as well as live Twitter feeds online.

In next week’s Chad we will give you an up-to-date map of the route and more details about those who will be carrying the Torch.

Said Mansfield mayor Tony Egginton: “The Torch Relay will shine a light on Mansfield giving commubities in and around the area the opportunity to demonstrate to the rest of the UK, and the world, the many things we have to offer.”

There will be a stop off at the Rebecca Adlington Swimming Centre in Mansfield en route where local dignitaries will then wave it off on its journey towards the Olympic stadium for the opening ceremony on Friday 27th July.

Chad will be publishing a special feature on the event in our 4th July edition as well as uploading a picture slideshow onto our website.

We’d love to include your pictures too - so if you have your cameras at the ready, then make sure you email your snaps to us at newsdesk@chad.co.uk by Friday 29th June.

And don’t forget, we will be live online on the day at www.chad.co.uk and on Twitter @chad news #mansfieldtorch.
