Brookes maintained his 100% record this campaign and landed his fifth player-of-the-match award in six matches to help Zygabyte hammer mid-table Jacksdale A 9-1. After eight victories from nine matches, they now head the division by seven points from Ravenshead Royals, who have played the same number of fixtures and won them all.

In third place, a further 20 points adrift, are Jacksdale B, who fought out a tight, but fair, 5-5 draw against Ravenshead Rangers. Neither side went more than one match up in a nip-and-tuck affair.

Lower down the table, Zygabyte B swept aside Snipers of St Josephs A with a solid 10-0 victory. Snipers did compete well in most games, and took the doubles to the fifth, but Zygabyte were just too good on the night. Unruffled Kev Cope was player-of-the-match with three 3-0 wins.

At the top of Division Two, seven points separate the leading two sides, Snipers of St Josephs B and Ravenshead Rhinos, with three matches to play, one of which is a clash between the two.

In the latest round of action, player-of-the-match Rob Vaughan helped Snipers B to a comfortable 8-2 victory over Ravensdale. On his way to a maximum, Vaughan avenged his only defeat of the season so far by beating Stuart Chadwick in three close games. Chadwick bounced back to inflict the first loss of the campaign on Nigel Stent in a five-game thriller.

Rhinos kept up their title challenge with a 6-4 success against Ravenshead Marksmen B, who might have lost ten of their 12 fixtures but again demonstrated that they are improving fast.

Ravenshead Marksmen A sit third in the table after a 6-4 win over Hucknall 50-Plus. Once again, their star turn was Mark Sansom, who bagged three wins and collected his seventh player-of-the-match award in ten games. None of his wins was easy, however, as Dick Johnson and John Banner put up fine resistance until going down 3-1 and Roy Drew took him to the fifth which finished 12-10.

Hucknall 50-Plus were also shaded 6-4 in the week’s remaining match, won by Zygabyte Spin Doctors, for whom Andy Hughes came back from 2-0 down to beat Dick Johnson, taking the next three 11-9.
