Sutton Swimming Club win Division Three East of National Arena League to seal promotion

Sutton Swimming Club won Division Three East of the National Arena League to secure promotion at the first attempt.

The swimming club won all three galas which secured top spot in Division Three East and will be confident when the start the 2015/2016 competition season at a higher level.

Andrew Quinn, chairman of the Swimming Club, said: “I am a very proud chairman of Sutton Swimming Club.

“Congratulations to all of the swimmers that represented the club in the Arena League. You thoroughly deserve this success.

“Everyone connected with the club now looks forward to competing in Division Two next season as the club continues to progress.”

The final gala of the Arena League for Sutton SC saw them travel to Market Harborough Leisure Centre.

On the night they were up against Wantage White Horse SC, Aylesbury & District SC, Market Harborough SC and Falcon SC.

Sutton started fast with some fantastic relay swims and led the gala after 10 events by four points.

After 18 events Market Harborough had narrowed the gap to just two points, but this seemed to spark the Sutton swimmers into action.

After 26 events Sutton led by nine points, after 34 events they led by 13 points and after 42 events they led by 16 points.

At the conclusion of the gala Sutton had secured victory amassing 205 points, beating Market Harborough into second with 186 points and Aylesbury and District in third with 139 points.

Falcon SC finished fourth and Wantage White Horse SC were fifth.

Sutton swimmers secured 21 first place finishes on the night.
