Selston Gymnastics Club, who compete in the East Midlands Gymnastics competitions, have this year achieved their best ever results.
“We are the smallest club which compete in the East Midlands Gymnastics competitions and only train for two hours a week at Selston Leisure Centre,” said head coach Michelle Mullett.
“I know all concerned with the club, including parents are delighted with what we we have achieved this year. Even the larger clubs in the region have congratulated us on our amazing results. It is fantastic to see so many children grow in confidence and compete.”
In the U8s competition at Chesterfield, Alice Turner- Rowe, (5) came a respectable sixth in her first competition out of 34 competitors.
Also competing were Alissia Aldred (6) Daisy Jones, Anya Lowe, Anna Lancashire, Millie-Jo Allsop and Kelsey Spencer (all aged 7).
In the over eight years, Primary Two level, at Chesterfield, Gracie Mullett (8) won her category out of 40 competitors.
Also competing were Poppy Talbot, Lottie Wilson, Kenzie Begg and Josie Connell (all aged 9). Bethany Mullett came 3rd in the age 12 group. Arthur Turner-Row came 1st in the boys age 8 years. Ethan Hales came second and James Forrest first in the age 9 years. It was the first competition for all of these boys.
The more advanced gymnasts competed in the Primary One level, at Leicester where Stephanie Turner came fourth in age 14years +, Machas Sibanda came third and Isaac Collins came first in the boys’ category.
Training takes place on a Monday evening at Selston Leisure Centre from 5pm -7pm for the younger children and beginners and from 6pm-8pm for the older and more advanced gymnasts.
