Mansfield completed the East Midlands One hockey season with a 2-1 defeat at Buxton last weekend.
That left Mansfield sixth and Buxton seventh, well clear of the relegation places, Mansfield winning six and drawing four of their 18 games.
On a fine and sunny day, perfect for hockey, Buxton started brightly and put the away side under intense pressure.
It only took a couple of minutes for the home side to break through with Orritt scoring following a delightful through ball from Browett.
The Bucks were dominating the first half and the second goal quickly followed from a short corner.
Orritt laid off for Wilton, who calmly flicked in to double the hosts’ advantage.
The second half then became a more even affair with both sides creating chances.
Balderstone, in the Buxton goal, made a couple of good saves but had no chance with the Mansfield goal as the visitors reduced their arrears via a penalty flick from Kyle Farquharson.
Buxton tightened up after that goal and an equaliser never looked on the cards.
