OLYMPIC champion Rebecca Adlington will be defending her crown at the London 2012 Olympics after easily winning the British selection trial tonight.

The reigning world record holder was in sublime form as she comfortably beat the field at the British Swimming Championships to add 800m qualification to the 400m qualification picked up earlier in the week.

Adlington clocked a time of 8:18:54 in which she barely seemed to break sweat.

Adlington won gold in the 400m freestyle in Beijing in 2008 before going on to smash the one of the sports longest standing world records as she powered to 800m gold medal glory just days later.
