MANSFIELD prospect Robert ‘Razor’ Sharp will move up a weight and top the bill in the next Robin Hood Boxing show at Mansfield Civic Centre on 31st March.

Sharp has had personal problems since his last contest, but coach Matt Scriven said: “I understand young Robert is not flavour of the month in Mansfield, but I’ve worked with him since the day I opened my gym and I know he’s a really nice, hard-working, well mannered lad.

“He’s topping the bill in a really tough 6x3 with Shinfield-based Derby fighter Jatinder Johal, hoping to gain revenge after Robert KO’d his gym mate Paul Frost in 40 seconds last time out.

“After his dazzling KO in October, Robert looks to have got himself some much needed sponsorship in Mansfield Town FC, who we are hoping to stage a promotion with in the near future.

“This is going to help Robert’s career enormously.

“Sharp is aiming to fight the winner of the Midland Area title fight between Troy James, formerly trained by Barry McGuigan, and Barrington Brown from Nottingham and, like James, a former contestant of Prizefighter.

These two meet for the Midland Super Featherweight title on 17th March and Scriven wants Sharpe to fight the winner at Field Mill before or in the summer.

Also on the bill are Ricky Gammon, the heavily supported popular former cage fighter from Hucknall, who will be hoping to bag his third pro win in a row since his debut last year.

He takes on Doncaster fighter James Tucker, providing Tucker comes through his 10-round British Masters title fight in early March without injury.

Unbeaten in four, Danny Fletcher, of Kirkby, takes on another Derby fighter in Luke Gallear at welterweight in what looks to be a good even match-up. Also lined-up to be on the bill is Louis Norman making his professional debut.

The entertainment will be completed by comedian Charlie Hale.

There will be the choice of a ringside table, a five-course meal, wine and waitress service to enjoy the night’s action and events or just a ticket for the boxing and comedian.

The bar will be open all evening and there will be a disco and DJ throughout the night.
